It's true, that extra toaster sitting in the basement or that old coat can help- put them to good use by donating them to Home Sweet Home.
Drop It Off!
Drop it off at the Receiving Center located at 301 E. Oakland Avenue in Bloomington (Attached to the back of Mission Mart.) Pull around to the back to drop off, Tuesday-Friday 8:00-4:00 and Saturday from 9:00-4:00.
How We Use It:
1. Your items help us provide for the needs of our clients staying in the shelter such as clothing for parents and children. When clients move to their own apartments, we provide them with household items such as sheets, dishes, housewares-whatever they need to get a fresh start.
2. Your items help us keep all three of our Mission Mart thrift stores well-stocked. We give lots of items away for free to individuals and families that can't afford to pay for them.
3. A well stocked Mission Mart store helps attract lots of customers. 100% of the net proceeds from EVERY sale puts money back into the shelter to help us provide over 61,000 meals each year, over 20,000 nights of shelter to folks and the little things like keeping the lights on, paying the staff and heating and cooling the shelter.
What We Accept:
- All clothing and accessories (including coats, shoes, belts, purses, etc.)
- Furniture in good repair
- Small appliances in good working order
- Housewares (dishes, silverware, pots, pans, etc.)
- Home Decor items (baskets, candles, framed pictures, mirrors, florals, etc.)
- Small televisions
- Microwaves
- Toys
- Books
- Bicycles in working order
- Linens, Towels, and Pillows

Large appliances (stoves refrigerators)
Tires
Butane tanks
Mattresses or box spring
Paint or chemicals
Get Your Receipt!
We do not attach a dollar amount to the receipt you are given. If needed, please contact the Internal Revenue Service for assistance in valuing you charitable deductions. Tax receipts are available from Receiving Center staff.
